high inode table

Dear all,

I'm experiencing a strange condition.

Currently my server had a network problem. Starting from almost an hour ago, sometimes it get disconnected from the internet, and than connected again. I don't know why, or what happens for it's a remote server, and I still not able to contact anyone there.

What make me puzzled is when I look at munin, my inode table stayed at 240k for almost three hours. I don't know whether this two event is related or not. But my main question is can anyone gives me a hit what's causing inode table to increase that high.
As another info, my CPU load avarage currently just 0.55, and low disk usage and dis utilization.

any help appreciated.

regards,

yoachan

You may be running out of inodes on that disk (or disks).
Next time, try running
Code:
df -i
to see. When a filesystem is constructed on a disk, it gets a fixed num of inode entries.
If you really need a higher num of inodes, see http://linux.die.net/man/8/mkfs.ext3
