Ok so ill start off with saying ive been running a mini server farm for ftp hosting for a long time and been using microsoft server 2003.

I HATE IT

i hate microsoft server. its been giving me all sorts of trouble and i cant afford the down time.
ok so what im asking is you guessed it, what operating system should i pick?

my servers run a standard ide config
and im very experianced in ubuntu
thats the only distro ive used mainly, but i dont like using it as a server either, so what im looking for is a operating system that can run a graphical interface with a graphical ftp server. like gproftpd.

i want a os that deosnt have much to it but can easiely be set up and get going quick
i also have to be able to remote desktop it from a windows machine.

my servers have to hard drives, i want to merge them together as i can in windows to make a big one

im a noob ill admit so i need advice

JUST SO DAMN SICK OF WINDOWS!
and if you want to guid me thrue this my email is brandonshultzz@gmail.com and my yahoo msnger is animebsd and skype is animebsd

That depends on your preferences. I've got many server up and running with different distros, such as: Ubuntu Server, SLES, Debian, Arch Linux and RHEL (CentOS). I haven't any problems in configuration with any of them, so it's really up to you.

P.S. I prefer debian-based distros for their packet manager and system configuration utilities.
