Help Me !! Getting Error in NIS Server


Hi everyone,

In my office, im using RHEL 6.4 OS for server as well as for client also. In RHEL Server we installed NIS Server . In the RHEL client side , when we boot the system during the service starts for NIS Service im getting an error.

do_ypcall: clnt_call: RPC: Timed out
YPBINDPROC_DOMAIN: Domain not bound

and also im unable to ping my RHEL Server .


Please give me the solution for this problem.

well if you can't ping the box in the fist place, why would you care about NIS connectivity? Have a look at the base networking and once you can ping it, worry about NIS (although... NIS??? why?? I'd strongly suggest throwing it out and using OpenLDAP instead)

You definitely need ping access between the 2 hosts. In fact NIS as I remember uses broadcast so they should be within a single network.

Hi Guys,

Problem was solved . it was network connectivity issues. now able to access the NIS Server.
