Jnreddy,
Most Linux distros don't include the proprietary applications used to get/set information on those machines.
You can use the 'dmidecode' application, which might be included with your distro (if not, check your package manager repos, or download here: http://www.nongnu.org/dmidecode/), to get BIOS level information about your system. Dmidecode will work on any machine that uses BIOS or EFI, regardless of manufacturer.
As for Dell:
I myself administrate a cluster of Dell R410's, and Dell provides a set of application for monitoring their specific hardware, and even changing BIOS and BMC settings. It's called Dell OpenManage, and it's available here: http://linux.dell.com/wiki/index.php/Repository/OMSA
The wiki should give you straightforward instructions on how install and use, but to just get system information, you can use the 'omreport' utility included with OpenManage.

Jnreddy,
OMSA, the OpenManage Server Administrator, it is free of charge and provided by Dell, and should work on all but the oldest hardware that Dell provides.
