gui on centos server


how to get gui while ssh to a server?
this is what i have so far.
Code:
yum groupinstall "X Window System" "GNOME Desktop Environment"
on server

how to start the gui?

I think what you are looking for is X11 forwarding. Do a internet search with search engine for x11 forwarding and see if it suits your requirement.

Personally I do not have a gui on servers for both memory manaagement and security reasons.
You could try this for starter:

the tutorial is helpful.
i follow the step and the window[clock and calculator] show up on host-local screen.
i install xming.
i tested it on a virtualbox centos server.
but when i type startx the gui show up in the virtualbox guest window.


i use gui because the program i want to use dont have cli
