GUI administration problem


Hi i loaded RHEL 6 and later install all gnome packages for GUI .If i click ->system
-->Administration tab am not able able see anything except software updates and add or remove programs.How to see filewall configurations and so on???

probably gnome is not ok, does not work properly, you ought to find logs

First, if you can click on System > Administration... then you're already in GUI desktop, that is, gnome seems ok.

But you should see lots of options under System > Administration..., which might a problem with your OS installation or a problem with packages that you installed.

Explain it little more that how did you loaded the OS and gnome packages, so people can further look into it.

-->I selected basic storage

-->Den i selected web server

after installing all am not getting gui so i configured yum repo and then i yum install gnome*

later i got gui but not all options

try using
# yum groupinstall "X Window System" "Desktop" "Desktop Platform" "General Purpose Desktop"
