Gnome vs KDE

Hi,
I am using a destktop version of Fedora6.1 for my Makeshift Server.
Now the problem I am facing is with the KDE.
The KDE doesnt allow me to use the VC and security tool Tripwire. All hell breaks loose and the system goes for a reboot if I try and install VC.
Where as if I use the GNOME there seems no problem. I can install and configure it easily.

Has anyone encountered the same problem ? Is it a compatibility issue with the KDE ??

Any Comments, suggestions help is really appreciated.
Thanks.
