I am quite new in linux and almost noob in email servers. (Setting up one of them is quite pain in ...)

Here is my story:

I have a Cento OS 5.2 linux box that has Apache 2.2, Sendmail with PHP. I do not have any problem with my email server. I can send emails to anyone with sendmail fonction. So I decided to use Gmail as my mail recieving service and use my own server to send emails. I think it seems no problem until here:

I can send emails to other server but I can not send email to my local domain. My local domain is virtually setup but MX records have been altered to use Gmail.

I can not send any email to user@mylocaldomain.com!

this is because Google's MX records will not point to your domain.

A better solution would be to receive from Google with a redirect.

Another problem is who ever replies to your emails would not get through.
