GFS2 RHEL 6.1 1 Node Cluster sharing VNX SAN over Fibre

I am in the process of setting up a RHEL 6.1 cluster of around 5 servers all accessing shared SAN space using GFS2. I currently have only one node, and everything is working except when you do an ls on the shares (the shares have LOTS of small and medium sized files) it takes hours to perform. Can anyone give me some insight? If I get more nodes added will I see a performance increase?

Thanks.

I only have a couple of tips ...

Code:
- disable/remove /etc/profile.d/colorls.[c]sh
- ensure user aliases for ls don't include 'color=[always|enabled]'
- modify mount options to include noatime,nodiratime,noquota if it suits your usage
- if updatedb is enabled, ensure gfs2 is in the filter list - /etc/updatedb.conf
- read up on posix locks, possibly add the following to cluster config:
    plock_ownership="1"
    plock_rate_limit="0"
I can't be sure on the last point, it's been a while since I looked at it

Thanks for the suggestions. They are most helpful. I will give them a try.
