Do i need to restart the box or apache?
I am gunna add them to the php.ini file and restart apache, then see what happens, if it breaks, i can undo the edits.
rebooted box, but still do not have any php-gd support.
My php.ini now shows

Set this to right path Configuration File (php.ini) Path in php info it is just /etc you have set to /etc/php.ini as Loaded Configuration File /etc/php.ini
