gcc-2.95.3 and gcc-4.3.2
Hello there,
sun:~/src/objdir2 # gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.3.2
I want to install and gcc-2.95.3:
Code:
../gcc-2.95.3/configure --enable-languages=c,c++ --prefix=/usr/local/gcc-2.95.3
configure works fine.
but "make":
Code:
...
/usr/include/bits/libc-lock.h:429: syntax error before `void'
In file included from ../../../gcc-2.95.3/libio/builtinbuf.h:32,
from ../../../gcc-2.95.3/libio/builtinbuf.cc:29:
../../../gcc-2.95.3/libio/streambuf.h:37: parse error before `}'
make[1]: *** [builtinbuf.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/src/objdir2/i686-pc-linux-gnu/libio'
make: *** [all-target-libio] Error 2
How can I fix it?

Welcome to LQ.
Some more information would be nice : Which Linux OS are you using ?
http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...Ask_a_Question
http://linuxsilo.net/docs/smart-questions_en.html
Why do you want gcc-2.95.3 ?
And which software is it, that requires gcc-2.95.3 ?
( Requirement for compiling gcc-2.95.3 and get 'c++' is a ten year old OS.
The binary 'gcc' can still be created on some later 'Linux'.)
..

GCC-2.95.3 needed for very old project. Old systems doesn't support new drivers.
Software is development of our programmers who doesn't want to support old projects. My task is make impossible.
About 1 year ago I did it but I can't refresh one's memory.

May be you have used an old Suse ? ?
The latest with a g++ version 2.95 : 'Debian Etch' and 'CentOS 3.9'.
( Both obsoleted / unsupported not many months ago.)
You could use an older OS ( On an older spare computer.)
But some libraries can be different, and the result may not run on SLES 11.
