I've got a friend that has a mac, and he is trying to upload files for a website hosted on my slackware 12 server. I can upload files just fine from any windows or linux pc, although he gets a file permission error any time he tries to modify the file structure (ex. create folder, upload files, delete files).
I chmod 777 the dir to test if it was a file system permission problem, and it still does not work. I am using vsftp for the server, not sftp.

So what's the difference between your and his account? Anything in the logs?

We are using the exact same account. I have a user set up with a public_html folder. I originally created this user for a web development project. I have a graphic designer that I converse with online. He told me that he had the designs ready for me look at. They were too big to send over e-mail, so I gave him the same username and password that I have been using to login with ftp. Once he tried uploading the files he got a file permission error.

Would there be anything that could be affecting his permissions, since his computer is Apple branded?
It doesn't even matter about rights. How is it that I can log in with an account and have access, and logout. Then someone else login with the same account and not have access? It won't make any difference whether he has his own account or not. It doesn't make any sense to me.
If I did setup his own account, what do I need to do to configure access to the same folder between users?
