[SOLVED] FTP connection refused

I've installed LAMP on my Ubuntu 9.10 server and I'm trying to FTP a file to the server from a Windows machine. Although I've chosen to connect as an Anonymous user, I get "!Connection failed 192.168.0.7 - connection refused."

I've also tried using the server login and password, but I get the same result.

I can't find the ftp config file on the server, so I'm unable to see what the settings are.

Any suggestions?

Which FTP server software did you install ? Most probably the FTP server is not running.

Since the FTP server software runs as a daemon, you need to start the service/daemon. Have you started the daemon from /etc/init.d ?

Can you get back with the result of the following command ?

I'm an idiot. I assumed I'd installed the server, but it was the client. Now I'm installing vsftpd.
