FSCK and JFS problem

Hello everyone.

I had to do a hard shutdown on one of my servers, which is a G3 HP ProLiant running Debian Etch.

The root filesystem is JFS, and I've made the mistake of setting the GRUB timeout to 0 seconds, so I literally can't get it to let me access the GRUB command line even when I try, but because of my hard reboot it will only boot with the root filesystem read-only.

I've tried using live discs to run fsck.jfs on the filesystem, but Debian's live disc doesn't seem to have fsck.jfs, neither does Fedora's, and it won't fully boot the Ubuntu live disc, I suspect driver issues here.

I've also tried copying fsck.jfs from one of my other computers to a pen drive and tried running it from a live disc but that doesn't want to work either.

If anyone has any ideas or just knows a live disc which has fsck.jfs on it I'd be more than grateful.

Thanks.

The GParted LiveCD should allow you to run fsck on that filesystem.

At least according to this feature-matrix.

I managed to get a copy of the OpenSuse live CD and that had fsck.jfs on it. I've burned off a copy of the Gparted live disk too in case I need something like this in the future.

Thanks.
