Folder sharing


Hi

I am using ubuntu 10.04 and i have one folder in my system to share
How can i share that folder via command line. i only want to share folder between ubuntu systems. how do i do, please give me the command for do it

To share directories between UNIX/Linux systems like Ubuntu you should use NFS.

There is information on how to do the setup for NFS on Ubuntu at:

Hi

Thanks for your valuable information. and now i want to configure samba on centos and also ubuntu 10.04. i have installed both of it. but i can't configure via cli, what are the command have to inserted into smb.conf. please help me

Why are you doing Samba if the share is between Linux servers? As I noted above NFS is the share used between UNIX/Linux servers. Samba is to allow you to share to (or use shares from) Windows rather than UNIX/Linux.

One command isn't magically going to do it, you need to set aside some time to prepare the configurations. As MensaWater said, you don't need Samba to connect between Linux/*BSD machines. It would simply be a waste of resources and hard drive space. Just use NFS.

How many machines will share the folder - do all have the same users defined with unique uid’s along the machines?

Sometimes using ssh and FUSE is already sufficient.
