File sharing web application

I would like to give my client/companies access to my documents. I have an account with huddle.net, but this is not very efficient. I have to upload each file from my desktop to huddle. Instead of doing this sync'ing manually, I'm looking for something else.

I have a hosted server somewhere. I was hoping that I could install a software application that would give me the following functionalities:

- I would sync my files and directory structure on my desktop with my domain through rsync over ssh.
- Client-companies should be able to browse this directory structure through a web interface and open the files that they are interested in
- I don't have many clients (< 5), so that is easily manageable.
- Employees of company A should have only access to directory A (and subdirectories). Employees of company B should have only access to directory B (and subdirs).
- The number of employees per company is also limited (less than 15), so user management is also easily manageable.
-By no way it should be possible that not-authorized users will have access to these files. Company A can also not have access to files of company B.
- Files are PDF, and are read-only. Employees should not be able to upload any files. Upload is only necessary for me, and that should be through rsync over ssh, so I will upload all files in the appropriate directories. I don't need any web interface to upload files.

Can you recommend any application that would be able to do this?

Tx for your help

Ivan

My suggestion would be use rsync over ssh to sync your files up to the server. Then for your clients install extplorer and apache, setup accounts however you feel they need to be setup (directory wise).

You should be able to control write access either through extplorer or through permissions for the webserver user (owned by you, group same as webserver 644, etc.)

You can find extplorer here: http://extplorer.sourceforge.net/ it's a pretty spectacular interface for getting to files in a pretty gui and offers most of the client side features you're looking for.

I would suggest running it in FTP mode and having it connect back to the local ftp server so someone entering a direct url can't get to files you wish to be inaccessible.

Try Alfresco: http://www.alfresco.com/products/docs/
or you can build your own WebDAV server
