file permissions with networking.

Hi Guys I really hope you can help me!!

We recently got a new linux server installed with some file sharing software called Editshare. What this software does is allow users on the network to login and access set 'media spaces'. (like network drives in winNT).

There are then 7 Mac pros connected to the server. Each mac has a login (FCP1 - FCP7). Now what we want is say, there are 2 people logged in. FCP1 and FCP2. FCP1 user creates a file on a media space. But then due to what was explained to me was file permissions, FCP2 is then unable to delete the said file. Because of the way our people work, we need this option available to them.

Is there a way to have files created by one user, deleted by another without going to each file individually and changing permissions? i.e. change the default permissions of newly created files.

Thanx in advance!!

Hi,

why don't you create a public share directory which would have equal permission for everyone in a group?
Then use the individual share for private backups.

Can you also post the error logs!

Regards,
