Question file backup on rehat server to WD my book external usb hard drive

i am running redhat linux on a server and i need to copy files from the internal hard drive to a western digital my book external USB hard drive. linux does see the drive in hardware manager and shows it as hdb but i cannot access the drive or mount it. when i tried to mount it i got an error saying i need to specify file system. can someone please tell me the easiest way to open the contents of the usb HD in an explorer like window and backup my files on the server?

Do find any /dev/hdb1 or /dev/hdb2 ? If yes, try mounting them.

Is that HDD formatted with NTFS of FAT?
