Usually that means that input file is truncated and/or corrupted.

any help would be appreciated thanks ...

OK so I figure it out, basically on the server side I have to start streaming with video4linux2 format. I didnt really have to call a feed. What I wanted was to view directly from /dev/video0. I can do that now by running:

ffmpeg -f video4linux2 -r 25 -s 300x300 -i /dev/video0 -f mpegts udp://192.168.1.204:5544

that streams from the local host to the remote host 192.168.1.204 via udp on port 5544

On the client side Im able to view by running:

vlc udp://@:5544

The problem now is that the transmission is way too slow. I'm transmitting at 25 fps. Plus I get the following message on the server side :

[0xb6b0070c] main input error: ES_OUT_SET_(GROUP_)PCR is called too late (pts_delay increased to 340 ms)

Thanks again. I know some of you took your time to at least read the question...
