External Storage partitions are not showing

Dear all

I have installed ubuntu 10.04 on a rack mount server :HP Proliant DL380GS (with one hard dish 72 GB)
External Storage : Dell Power Vault MD 1000 (with RAID5 is mounted on it)

root@pmdtest-desktop:~# uname -a
Linux pmdtest-desktop 2.6.32-41-generic #89-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 27 22:22:09 UTC 2012 i686 GNU/Linux

We have attached an external storage 12TB to this system and have stored 6-7TB data on it.Every thing was working fine.
two days before, when we turned on the system it did not boot. with out any message and hanged during the boot.
After booting the system with out the storage it works fine.now when I manually want to mount the storage it says not partition exits. But in partition manager it is showing the external storage (but no partition). kindly help me to get my data back. and mount the storage.

Make sure that USB devices are disabled in the boot sequence or are after the hard drive in boot order. I've also had some systems were USB devices would intermittently prevent the computer from entering post.

Run "sudo tail -f /var/log/messages" before plugging in the external storage. Is the device itself detected (i.e. /dev/sdb)?
It might be a problem with the file system. What is the file system used on the external storage device?
