External home dns server

Hello everyone,

I am trying to setup my own dns server at home however i can't ping it from the outside " timed out " - from inside my network ping, dig etc works fine

Centos 4
bind 9
iptables is allowing port 53 in tcp/upd, router is allowing the same ports as well.

I have registered my domain name and updated the registry company info to point to my dns ip address at home.

The only other reason i would think of is that port 53 might be blocked by my ISP "cablevision" ?? does anyone know if this is the case? and if you are able to have your own home dns can you please point me to where things went wrong with my setup?

Thanks for you help in Advance

Optimum(Optonline) network which is your case (cablevision belongs to optimum) blocks ports and opens them for a fee
