Hi all

I have linux server with following specifications

Linux 2.6.9-55.0.2.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue Jun 12 17:59:08 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

I have mounted a external HDD on that for backup purpose.
I dont know why Some time this HDD goes read only.

fstab entries are as

/dev/sdc1 /backup ext3 defaults,rw 0 0

/dev/sdb2 14 27657 222050430 83 Linux

It's impossible for us to give you any answers, with so little information. It goes read-only "sometimes"? When? What are you doing when it happens? Same times/days? What? What KIND of external HDD? What interface (USB? Firewire?).

Also My doubt is there might be limit on the kernel specified to access the DISCsize.
