Post exim mail queue

Everyone morning I have a backup of messages in the mail queue that causes the server to slow down. I look at the running processes and exim from my domain account is using a huge amount of horse power. I have aboutt 15 other domains on the machine. It is running WHM/cpanel on redhat 4. Can you help me find out what is causing the problem, or possible causes.

It also only happens late at night, after midnight, there is nothing in the queue during the day.
