exec of init (sbin/init) failed


Hi All,

I am getting below error after rebooting the RHEL 5

exec of init (sbin/init) failed !! No such file or directory....
Kernal Panic- not syncing. Attemted to kill init !

What would be the problem?

Looks like /sbin/init is missing. Boot a live CD and check that it's there. Also check previous messages to see if the kernel is able to mount the disk.
