Error in mounting samba share in linux machine


Hi
i used the following command
mount -t cifs //xx.xx/sambashare /arun -o username=arun,password=arun it does int mount the folder then i used the next command it to got to failure
mount -t smbfs //xx.xx/sambashare /arun -o username=arun,password=arun
can someone help me how can i mount samba share .

Do u have the smbclient package installed? Check dmesg after the cifs cmd

Hi

error i got during exe


[root@localhost ~]# mount -t smbfs //61.8.145.125/clientservers/mena /netdrive -o username=mywindowsusername,password=mywindowspassword
mount: unknown filesystem type 'smbfs'

mount -t cifs //xx.xx/sambashare /arun -o username=arun,password=arun
mount: unknown filesystem type 'cifs'

Please check you have installed the smb pacakges restart the services portmap amd smb.
and try this command.
mount -t cifs -o user=windowsusername //ipaddress/foldername /mnt/opt
it will ask you for password provide the windows password.
