Enabling Gd Extensions On Server..help Urgent>

Hello Everyone,

I have purchased a visual dedicated server from Godaddy and I am a bit confused since I am an amateur at these things...
I am trying to enable or add the GD EXTENSIONS or GD LIBRARIES and I dont know if they are enabled..

I ran phpinfo and I dont see the option for GD on the lsit..so I donwloaded PHP4 from the PHP website that has GD included in it but I dont know where to upload these files to.....Please help....

I am willing to pay someone for help...but would appreciate some feedback...

Thanks!
RR

I assume this is a Linux server. If you have some kind of rpm distro, ie Red Hat, CentOS, Fedora, you can use yum for an easy install.
sudo yum install php-gd
That should get you what you need. I don’t have a debian distro in front of me but apt-get should do the same thing. If this doesn’t work, let me know what OS you are using and i can be more specific.

Yes. on the command line. the break down:
sudo -- a program that lets you pretend to be someone else, in this case the root user. short for pseudonym.
yum -- a program that downloads other programs from a repository. short for Yellow dog Updater, Modified
install -- a arguments for yum. most programs have arguments in linux.
php-gd -- this is the name of the package you are looking to install.

if this does not work please type on your command line:
cat /etc/issue
and post what the out put is.

good luck
