Enabling error message in Apache

Hi,

I have installed ArchLinux and configured my LAMP server for development purpose, however, I'm not able to to change Apache settings so that it shows all errors and warnings in the browser.

I'm using vim and I know that php -l tells me if my document is valid or not, but it doesn't give me the line number, so it's very hard to find syntax errors on my php files.

I think there should be a way to tell apache to show all error and warning messages in the browser, as I had such feature in my ubuntu machine.

Also, in my ArchLinux machine, I added user directories to the list of public html directories so that by going to http://localhost/~user/ I can view my page, but for some reasons, going to that address doesn't show all directories and files inside my web server directory. However, going to http://localhost/ will show everything, even though the content of /srv/http/ and /home/user/public_html/ are identical.

Any idea how to get rid of these two problems?

Thanks in advance.
