Email Routing

Hello,

I am trying to work out a sendmail issue. I am hoping someone might be able to help. I have a linux box running sendmail, and I want all the mail that this box would typically send to me relayed to my mail server.

I have added the following line in my sendmail.mc file:

dnl define(`SMART_HOST', `mail.itas.ca')dnl

After changing the line, I executed the following commands:

[root@europa /]# m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/mail/sendmail.cf

[root@europa /]# service sendmail restart

I assumed that this would then relay all of my mail off of mail.itas.ca, but it appears not to be relaying. Here is the output of:
[root@europa /]# sendmail -q -v

Running /var/spool/mqueue/m2HKVt8M026927 (sequence 1 of 7)
<leebrent@gmail.com>... Connecting to gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com. via esmtp...
<leebrent@gmail.com>... Connecting to alt2.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com. via esmtp...
<leebrent@gmail.com>... Connecting to alt1.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com. via esmtp...
<leebrent@gmail.com>... Connecting to gsmtp147.google.com. via esmtp...
<leebrent@gmail.com>... Connecting to gsmtp183.google.com. via esmtp...
<leebrent@gmail.com>... Deferred: Connection refused by gsmtp183.google.com.

Is there a way I can relay this message to my mail server, and what am I missing to relay all the mail on this box to mail.itas.ca?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Brent,

You need to remove the dnl from infront of define(`SMART_HOST', `mail.itas.ca')dnl before generating your sendmail.cf file, The dnl infront means that setting has been commented out.
