Dual site on on static IP address?

I run a website server on Fedora Core 6 with the latest version of Apache. My website files are located at /var/www/html/.

My site, mydomain.com, is open to all users. I am wondering if it is possible to redirect administrator.mydomain.com to a separate password protected page that I have created without having to lease another static IP.

I currently have it set up so that I have to go to mydomain.com/admin/login.php to access my administrative tools (i.e. database interface, statisitcal functions, etc.), but would rather have it under administrator.mydomain.com.

absolutely possible in every way. first check out virtualhost directives in your httpd.conf file. the default configs normally contain a nbumber of usefull examples which will allow you to distinguish between different host names as you wish. after that you would have a seperate location for the other site, into which you can use an htpasswd directive within the httpd.conf virtual host to require certain credentials to be provided, or just use a .htpasswd file placed in the root directory of whatever you wish to protect. what you're after lives wholly within the application layers, ip networking is not involved in this, so don't look outside of apache to solution any issues about this if you do get stuck.
