dovecot version issue

Hi,

I am hoping if I could get some help from you folks. Does anyone know if there are any differences between Dovecot v1.0 and Dovecot v2.0? Because from what I gathered in the past was that dovecot v1.0 was a stable program, whereas v2.0 was for development use. I think I am wrong here because I saw lots of users are running v2.something on their servers. I have been googling it but didn't quite get the spot-on answer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

As per dovecot's website, v2.0 is the latest stable version and I think all new Operating Systems have this latest version.

I wonder if i need to upgrade to 2.0.

The way I installed dovecot on Ubuntu Server 10.04 was by running the following command and it installed dovecot v1.2.19

sudo apt-get install dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d

Anyway, I do not know if it'd be a good idea to keep running on version 1.0

If you install latest updates then this package should have been updated but if not then use this command to update your packages.
