Smile Do this line can be remoeved from config file 'efidefault'

Hi all,

I am using a Linux PXE server now. We can see a menu in client screen when the client connect to PXE server.
Today, my colleague try to remove one line code from the config file 'efidefault'.
He edit it from
default=0
timeout=1
splashimage=(nd)/splash.xpm.gz

to
default=0
timeout=1

#splashimage=(nd)/splash.xpm.gz

After he do that, we got 2 symptoms randomly.
Case 1. Client screen will not show PXE GRUB menu when connect client and PXE server. System will boot to default OS.
Case 2. PXE GRUB menu will show in the top-left of screen.

He say that removing the line is only change the menu show in text mode.(original show in grphic mode)and he want me to find out the rootcause of why remove 'splashimage=(nd)/splash.xpm.gz' will cause losing PXE GRUB menu.

Does anyone know the line can be removed? What's the line means?

Thank you so much!!
B.R.
Chen
