DNS configuration

I am trying to install a debian lenny system as DNS server with ip no 192.168.0.129 netmask 255.255.255.192

As the network address for this network is 192.168.0.128

What should come in the reverse looku up section

Is it

zone "128.0.168.192.inet-addr.arpa"

or is it "0.0.168.192.inet-addr.arpa"?

hi,

why not to keep it as a cache dns server. and when you install Linux and bind service it works as a cache dns server by default.

thanks

The correct is 128.0.168.192.in-addr.arpa. Mind it's "in" not "inet".
If you want you can put you subnet also and define the reverse zone like: 128/26.0.168.192.in-addr.arpa. You can find more details for Classless in-addr-arpa delegation here

Regards

Thank u for the "Classless in-addr-arpa delegation here" link
