display on server, not on my machine?

Hi, I have a program with a GUI, set up to run on a server, I can't turn off the GUI, but I don't need to view it on my local machine (since the program run from command line and finish itself).

At first run on the server, it said no X11 variable set.
I tried to use

export DISLPAY:=0.0

then another error: Can't connect to X11 window server using ":0.0" as the value of the DISPLAY variable.

So how to fix this?

Thanks

Hi -

The syntax is something like "export DISPLAY=myserver:0.0" (I assume "DISLPAY" and ("DISLPAY:=0.0" were typos).

You might need "xhost" to authorize access.

And you'll need something like "ssh" to tunnel X over a firewall

ssh -X {servername} perhaps?
assuming openssh-server is installed on the server
