display colors when connecting using vnc server.


hay all
i'm new to linux world
i have a 64-bit fedora linux server
i have installed vnc server and GNOME desktop, anyway the colors i get when i connect via VNC are poor ..it's like 8-bit colors ..

should i install any other packages to manage display colors ?
please advice.

there should be a -depth flag you can add to the vnc server command that will increase your color depth. Usually 16 is the default.

thanx for ur reply, i increased the width but i didn't get a full colors, the screen became let's say (sharper) but not with right colors ..

could it be a display card driver issue ? or may b should i upload Gnome icons and stuff ..?

I think you will find there are two places to set the color depth. One place is on the server (you are setting the color depth that the server will "serve" out to clients), the other is on the client side (you are telling the client what to display from the server). Make sure both are set to say 16 depth and see if you don't get the colors you want.

If you used a weird depth number (say 37 or something) you will likely get strange results. I am going to bet you have one or the other configured incorrectly. The man page for vnc server has a lot of good info about options etc.
