Directory Server
Hi Guys,
I would like to know if there's Directory Server for Redhat, I knew this product dismissed but there's in fedora distribution.
Is there for Redhat away?
If not, what's another directory or LDAP server that I could use?
Thank
Mario

Well, if you're going to use it on a big scale, you can go with Redhat's Directory Server. If you have a support contract with Redhat, you can use their support also.
Basically the 389 DS is also developed by Redhat through the Fedora project and it's its open source counterpart.
I have not used any of them, but you should also note that this product is based on the SunOne (now Oracle) Directory Server which is a very well tested product.
I used to work for a company doing support on Sun's products and we've used their directory server on large companies (like banks, ISPs) without serious problems. This is also free to download, but you need a support contract to get support

Thanks again Bathory,
I'll do so, but now I would to download Redhat's directory server but I'm not be able to find it.
I must download it for create a testing enviroment, but do you know where I could find for download it?
I've always use Sun's JES DS but is much expensive. This once I would like to prevent.
Thanks again!

Hi,
I'm afraid that RH directory server is not free too. Quoting from their documentation:
Quote:
Red Hat Directory Server 8.2 packages are available for download from Red Hat Network (http://rhn.redhat.com). Downloading packages from Red Hat Network requires specific entitlements for the account for the 8.2 release.

I guess you can use the Centos DS, that I assume is the same product without the RH brand. Or even try the 389 DS from fedora.
BTW, if you don't want to pay for support, why don't you stay with SunOne directory server?
