Directadmin and Apache Security
Ok.
I have now discovered this with all Directadmin sytems. If the number of requests on the system cross 50, the apache processes are triggered and they start growing and use up a lot of RAM but not CPU.
The websites become inaccessible until the requests are stopped. I use a software called PRstorm which can make the requests to the URL's you specify. It can send requests from a Single IP as well as Proxies.
When I run this software, specially on blog websites, the websites shutdown and come back online when the requests are stopped. If the requests are very high, sometimes the apache would crash.
This is not a system specific issue but an issue with all Directadmin systems at default apache configs. I've tried it on 3 systems with Directadmin and the websites shutdown.
I personally have a Debian latest machine with 2Ghz processor and 6GB ram but still I can't stop my websites from shutting down.
However, regarding shared hosts like hostgator.com or even the free 000webhost.com, none of the websites shutdown . Maybe they have high level apache optimization.
How should we fix this issue or maybe optimize apache ? This could also be Apache or PHP bug since I have the latest version like some kind of request could be triggering apache.
