Dear jayakumar01,

yum is not work in Debian. It is work on CentOS, RHEL and Fedora.

In CentOS:-

[root@localhost ~]# yum install sendmail

OR

[root@localhost ~]# yum install sendmail*

----------------------------------------------
Error:-

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
exim4-base : Depends: exim4-config (>= 4.30) but it is not going to be installed or
exim4-config-2
sendmail : Depends: sendmail-bin but it is not going to be installed
Depends: sendmail-cf but it is not going to be installed
Depends: sensible-mda but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

---------------------------------------------------------

When you got below error just run the apt-get -f install they will fix this issue and then check the sendmail package is installed or not. Please let me know the result.
