Dear,
I configured the debian server to authenticate with the active directory MS, using sssd, samba and kerberos. Worked perfectly. However, after installing xfce desktop, I can not get ad users.
Hello wpeckham,
Well, following the tutotial of that link https://wiki.debian.org/Authenticati...eDirectorySssd, I was able to get list of ad users and can log in to terminal and ssh. However, when I install the "task-xfce-desktop" package, then the access to the users of the ad is unavailable, being only available the access of the users who logged in before installing xfce, since they are cached

I see nothing wrong with that tutorial. I have set up several servers (mostly RHEL and CentOS), but I do not recall seting up a workstation quite that way. None of my servers ever ran or loaded Xorg or gui software: gui is more a feature of workstations. There may be an incompatibility that I have never run into.
Which brings the question: Why do you want to install xfce AFter joining AD?
I wish I could be more help, I will lurk and see if someone else knows what might be wrong here.
