Hello,
I have a Debian server which has been configured as a NIS server. It has been working brilliantly for months. Recently I have added more groups to the system and since then I have found that sometimes my NIS clients have issues accessing directories which are owned by one of the new groups as a user which is part of that group.
I can connect as this user on the local server and access these folders. The problem only occurs when I connect to the server on a NIS client.
It's as if the /etc/groups file isn't being processed properly when I run the make script which remaps all of the server configurations.
It is worth noting that I can still access other directories on the NIS client which have similar permissions.
When I try to cd to the affected directory I get the following error:
Code:
cd: 1: can't cd to foldername
Even though the permissions are correctly set.
These folders are NFS mounted from the server. As I said before I can cd to this folder if I connect locally to the server and not the NIS client.
Are there limits to how many groups a NIS server can handle?
Any help with this will be appreciated.
Many Thanks,
