dak distro or package that consolidates duplicate ram or disk data?

I know vmware will consolidate data in ram and on disk so if you have 10 virtual disks that have a distro on them they will only take up the space of one plus the differences across the different virtual disks. Likewise if you are running two copies of the same program it will use only the ram of one copy, plus differences. At least thats the sales cheese.

Are there any linux distros or packages that do this?
