cron reporting errors with sendmail

Hi, Im getting a number of mails in my root inbox sent by cron,

from root to root

subject - Cron <smmsp@andrew-desktop> test -x /usr/share/sendmail/sendmail && /usr/share/sendmail/sendmail cron-msp
Code:
/usr/share/sendmail/sendmail: line 826: /usr/sbin/sendmail-msp: No such file or directory
Send mail is installed and running, so is postfix. I was thinking there might be a conflict of the two. But I think postfix uses sendmail....?

mail facilities seem to be working correctly.

Any guidence would be appriciated.

Does that file actually exist?

/usr/sbin/sendmail-msp: No such file or directory

The sendmail-msp file? That's the problem most likely.. pretty obvious..

well yer....id thought of that obviously

nope the file doesn't exist.

etc/sendmail/sendmail contains the following on line 826

Code:
cron_msp () {
	#
	# Make sure /var/run/sendmail/ exists
	check_dirs;
	#
	# Obtain parameters IFF needed
	if [ -z "$SM_Get_Parameters" ]; then
		Get_Parameters;
		fi;
	#
	# If cron not needed, don't do queue running (though it wouldn't hurt)
	if [ $MSP_MODE = 'cron' ]; then
		#
		# If running a split (MTA/MSP) setup, we need to make sure that
		# messages not immediately accepted by the MTA get delivered.
		if check_msp; then
			# Make sure only *ONE* cronjob at a time
			if [ ! -f $STAMP_DIR/cron_msp ]; then
				touch $STAMP_DIR/cron_msp;
				#clean_queues /var/spool/mqueue-client;
		         826--> $MSP_COMMAND -q $MSP_A $MSP_L_QUEUE \
					$MSP_PARMS $MISC_PARMS \
					$CRON_PARMS || true;
				rm -f $STAMP_DIR/cron_msp;
				fi;
			fi;
		fi;
	};
and this is calling
Code:
MSP_DAEMON='/usr/sbin/sendmail-msp';
	MSP_COMMAND='/usr/sbin/sendmail-msp';
	MSP_A='-Ac';
	MSP_L='-L sm-msp';
	MSP_L_QUEUE='-L sm-msp-queue';
	MSP_ROOT="${SENDMAIL_ROOT}/msp";
	MSP_PIDFILE="${MSP_ROOT}/sendmail.pid";
	MSP_SOCKET="${MSP_ROOT}/smsocket";
	MSP_CNTL="${MSP_ROOT}/smcontrol";
shouldn't it be

Code:
MSP_DAEMON='/usr/sbin/sendmail -msp';
	MSP_COMMAND='/usr/sbin/sendmail -msp';
with a space after the sendmail? Not really to willing to fiddle with this without any advice. I fear the SMTP. :-)

Cheers

Andy

version

& do you know how I find the version of sendmail that Im using?

cos I found this,
The main difference between Sendmail 8.11.1 and Sendmail 8.13.3 is that Sendmail 8.13.3 can act as a Mail Submission Program (MSP) using a different configuration file compared to the one used by the Sendmail daemon MTA. The /etc/mail/submit.cf file is the default Sendmail MSP configuration file. http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-6611/ch03s01.html

tried this

Code:
root@andrew-desktop:/home/andrew# echo \$Z | /usr/sbin/sendmail -bt -d0
sendmail: warning: My hostname andrew-desktop is not a fully qualified name - set myhostname or mydomain in /etc/postfix/main.cf
sendmail: fatal: unsupported: -bt
Im on the case with this!

edit
Just found from ebmin that Im using "Sendmail config V10/Berkeley"

Cheers
