Creating IMAP addressbook (for PINE)

Hello,
I want to setup a mail server and provide an option to have IMAP addressbook for users so that they can use PINE to connect and maintain the same addressbook across various machines. I am unable to find instructions as to how to create or enable such an addressbook(s). I tried the procedure given here:

but it doesn't seem to work as there seems to be no addressbook that is created.

Can someone pl tell me how can I create such an addressbook?

It says that could not read remote address-book. Which makes sense as it has not asked for password. Any work around for this problem? I tried as given under "8. Creating an IMAP-Accessible Personal Address Book".
