Courier not logging in? Auth daemon issue

Hi, I'm trying to log in to my mail box with Courier IMAP and POP however they both seem to be resetting the connection.

This is the output from my log file:
Code:

Oct  8 11:55:16 gx110 imapd: Connection, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
Oct  8 11:55:16 gx110 imapd: authdaemon: s_connect() failed: No such file or directory
Oct  8 11:55:16 gx110 imapd: LOGIN FAILED, user=kayasaman, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]Oct  8 11:55:16 gx110 imapd: authentication error: No such file or directory

This happened after I uninstalled Citadel groupware suite, and reverted back to Postifix/Courier setup.

Postfix had issues but is fine now, Courier still struggling?

Has any body got any ideas? I can't login from Squirrelmail either :( - Error Connection Dropped by IMAP Server

Any help would be appreiciated thanks!

Can any body assist me or tell me what to provide to be assisted????

I can only find the logs in either mail.log or mail.err which say the same thing, also the config files are the same between my working domain server and the main server which is down. Errr...... oh also I've noticed that there are different files in the folders between the working and non-working machines.

One has an encrypted key file in it and the other has a maildrop file in it which I don't know what is since I have never used maildrop before.

Please anything would be great!!!

Ok I don't understand this error and reading about it some people claimed that Courier maybe unable to conenct to PAM socket but I guess I'll have to wait untill I can migrate the machine when I can install Courier from scratch properly to get it working :( as I've already tried:

Code:

apt-get remove courier-imap coureir-imap-ssl courier-pop courier-pop-ssl
dpkg --purge courier-imap courier-imap-ssl courier-pop courier-pop-ssl

no effect!

I guess my issue is either a bug, permissions (to use the socket), or something else which I don't know about?

I guess no one knows how to tackle this either :(

Well I got round this by using Dovecot!!

It worked but still Courier issue not solved - oh well.
