Could int able to modify the ipaddress in Centos installed inside virtualbox


Hi all,
I have installed centos 6.2 in vitualbox in windows xp. After default installation i try to change the ipadress of centos operating system in virtualbox .Our local lan network ipadrress
10.200.2.37 255.255.255.0 10.200.2.3 .But it's picking up default dhcp ipaddress.Whether virtualbox works on static ipaddress alone.Can anyone help me

what networking mode are you using for virtual box. If you want your vm to act as a standalone machine the networking mode should be bridged and from the description you have provided it seems the vm is configured for NAT mode networking.

and secondly if the networking is bridged then I would like to know the method you are using to change the IP address?
system-config-network
of manually by making changes in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
