i have a centos 5.5 server, 300GB sas harddiscs.

but serval days ago, my server always show:

only read file system

and top,ps,vi all command is not usefull and show error -input output

i search it on google, and read many pages

i found it has 2 reason most like

1.harddisks broken
2.2.6.18 kennel'bug


i bought a new hardiscs and change it on my server

Do you perchance have a RAID implemented on your server?

I had this happen once when I "tested" my raid by removing a drive. Apparently I did not issue to the proper commands to put it in a failed and degraded state prior to removing the disk. I attempted to fix it with fsck but only made the problem worse. Thankfully since I was using a raid 1 (mirrored) the answer was to wipe the one disk and tell it to rebuild the array. Initially it declared the disk as a spare, but once it copied the data over, it was fully functional again.

last day ,i bought a new harddiscs,until now,the proble is not happy again...

i think it maybe a hardware problem
