Connecting to the Internet via USB in Ubuntu Server


I really have no clue
How would I go about connecting to the internet using a USB connection?
I am using Ubuntu Server 8.04 LTS
If any more info is needed I will be happy to say

What kind of internet is it ? there are a lot of usb-types, please give more details

It is a broadband connection & its from a router to USB 2.0

I think you've used windows, if yes did you used to dial everytime you want to connect ?

No I didn't
It is always connected
Im using a BT Home Hub 1.5
I could get a picture of both of the ends of the USB cable I would like to use if you want

If there's a manual it'd be helpful also does model no.

Sadly I dont have a copy of the manual
But I will look around the web to see if I can find it
also it is the 1.5 version (the latest is 2.0)

The USB method is Windows only...
No wonder it wouldn't work!

Going to have to buy an Ethernet card, only an old computer the card will probably be worth more than the computer!

BT is the 'router'. right? It has a usb out for client computers??

please describe the connection a bit more clearly

According to this page, the usb is only for connecting an printer or hard disk to the network (usb 1.1, hugh!)

Will you connect to the router with an usb dongle for wireless or how do you mean?
