Do you need to check the size periodically? then try some monitoring tools like Nagios or Mrtg

while comparing dir/files of remote and local linux server by "du -sh" command produce difference in size in MB.
infact all dir , sub dir are same.i sync remote home dir into local home dir.

rsync -avu /home/ root@remoteip:/home/

on checking manually some files are not copied.
why it is so..
