Smile command "locate" did shows nothing


when i 'm installing squid2mysql, in the middle of instalation process, when i used command "locate mysql.h" and "libmysqlclient.a", it shows nothing, what does it means? what must i do to make it command run properly?

when you install any new application, you will need to run

updatedb
only after this would locate pick it up.
