command line download accelerator with username and password support?


i need a command line download accelerator with username and password support for ubuntu server

wget is good but it's VERY slow and axel is amazingly fast but doesn't support user/pass so i'm kind of stuck

aria2 should do.

Command-line usage:
aria2c --http-user=USER --http-passwd=PASSWD URL

Check the manpage; it has a lot of options.
It's in universe.

does it support multiple connections? if not then it's the same as wget :\

Yes, it does. 5 by default.
It will even make connections to different mirrors with the same file if you give it several URLs.

To continue a partial download from another source, use the "-c" option. To continue a download started by aria2, just issue the command again; aria2 produces an information file about the download which it will find and use.
