Question Closest Mirror.. But is it up to date?

Hi Guys,

Would all the mirrors have same content?

I always had this feeling where the 1st mirror, debian's formal mirror, would be the most reliable one.

Is this true by any chance?

How do they update their server? or get to know when a fix or a new package released.

and for some reason, .de (Germany) servers gives me the simiar feeling that they are taking it more seriously so it would be more reliable.

The mirrors are normally updated few times a day. It pays to change sources.list to mirror close to you. I would leave security mirror as is - Debian doesn't encourage mirrors of security archive.

Many people seem to think that ftp.debian.org is the canonical location of Debian packages and that it will be best for them to mirror from that site. This is not true.

ftp.debian.org is merely one of several servers that get updated from an internal Debian server. That address is presently located on a single server in the United States, and it still exists mainly for backwards compatibility.
